How to Wear: The Wedge Sneaker

leopard wedge sneaker, how to wear wedge sneaker, isabel marant lookalike, ashe lookalike
Blink Amodii Leopard Wedge Sneaker

It all started late last night when I couldn't sleep and of course decided to read some fashion blogs :)  The Style Rawr had just published this post on these wedge sneakers by Blink.  We then continued to get into this whole conversation through comments on how we were both pretty much over the wedge sneaker because it blew up so quickly.  I'm sure this type of thing has happened to you before - but somehow it doesn't always last does it?  Of course NOT!  Blink dreams up this kick ass pair of leopard wedge sneakers and now they are on my LUST LIST.

Not into the leopard?  No problem!
Check me out on Currently Obsessed for a ton of other fun options!

Once I become fixated on a particular item whether it be clothes, shoes or accessories,  I instantly start dreaming up outfits and just how I am going to wear these things.  Even if I never actually end up owning them, fashion is fantasy, and oh so much fun.

So without further adieu...

how to wear wedge sneaker, what to wear with wedge sneakers

The skinny jean is an obvious choice - so make it more exciting and opt for a colored pair.  If you prefer a solid sneaker, pair them with a printed jean for a bold statement. A skinny jean too safe for you?  Mix it up by pairing your wedge sneaker with something girly like this chiffon high low skirt.  I love the juxtaposition of the hard and soft.  I featured the chambray shirt to finish each look - and bring a casual feel.

Want a simpler way to rock these wedge sneakers?  Go for a pair of cut off denim shorts and a white tee - you can never go wrong with the basics!

So....what is your opinion on the wedge sneaker and how do you wear yours?

What to Wear: Memorial Day Weekend

Ah, Memorial Day.  The unofficial kick off to summer; a time for beaches and BBQs galore.  Here's what you need to make it through the weekend in style!

Of course the bathing suit is a no brainer.  I chose a turquoise one because the color is universally flattering, and makes a statement.   Don't forget your hat to keep the sun off your face, and a cross-body bag so you can hold on to all your belongings while keeping your hands free for food and drink :)

Going to the beach instead of a backyard BBQ?  Just switch out the cross-body for an oversize tote bag and you're good to go!

How to Wear: The Cropped Bustier (aka The Bralet)

how to wear, cropped bustier, bralet

No matter what you call it, it has a huge presence in fashion right now, and it's not the easiest look to pull off. If you are toying with the idea, but aren't quite sure how to make it work, I'll give you a few inspirations to start you off.

First things first.  Unless you are still in your early 20's I would say avoid showing too much midriff.  (Like those girls picture above) or leg for that matter.

If you are like me...(not in your early 20's)...don't fret; you too can wear a cropped bustier and keep it classy!

I started with the night look because it seems to be the hardest to imagine.  The trick here is the high waist pants.  See  how they cover the belly button?  Now, picture the bustier falling about two inches below your bust...that means there will only be a very small strip of skin showing.  That my friends is how you do it!

Here are some runway images so you can see exactly what I am talking about.

Here is some daytime inspiration for you.  I paired the bralet with a pair of high waist skinny jeans and a blazer to complete the look.  A blazer is the perfect way to polish off any look, but I especially like how it adds some mystery to the bralet while it just peeks out from underneath.

You can also create a daytime look by following the same principles as that of the nighttime look above.  In addition to a wide leg pant you can substitute with a high waist maxi skirt and finish the outfit with a flat sandal and over sized bag like the one featured above.

What do you think about the cropped bustier?  Will you be working into your wardrobe this season?

Inspiration Board Monthly: Dark and Mysterious

See Pinterest for Image Credit

While most are dreaming of May flowers I am feeling drawn to the dark and mysterious.

Currently loving: black and white stripes, lace, androgynous style, abstract prints, black paired with gold, the juxtaposition of the hard and soft.  While these things are part of my style DNA - somehow they are influencing me even more heavily these days.

What has been inspiring you lately?

Shop This Trend: Floral Print

You've seen floral prints everywhere, now it's time for you to snag a piece of your own, and these options are all under $100.  If you don't want to invest in too many pieces snatch up an accessory or a layering tank.  These items can be worked into different outfits without ending up with the same exact look every time.

If you love florals so much you plan on picking up a few different pieces you should definitely grab a pant, jumpsuit or even a pair of shorts. Remember though, these will not be as versatile and you'll most likely wear them much more sparingly.

If you are overwhelmed by all the different floral prints and color options out there here's a tip to keep in mind while you are shopping, which will help you narrow it down.

*Fashion Tip: When choosing a print always keep the size of the print in mind; it should be proportionate to the size of your frame.

For instance: If you are petite stay away from large prints as they will over power you.  A ditsy print, (super small) will work very well on you.  On the other hand, if you're frame is more average then that small ditsy print will look out of place, and you should be wearing a larger print.  You may have to try on a few pieces first before you get it right, but as long as your keeping this tip in mind you'll get there.

Not sure how to wear these floral prints?  If you're feeling bold take a tip from these lovely blogger ladies and mix those floral prints together!
